GREG Wright is looking for improvement from his Himley side despite a winning start to the season.

A narrow rain-affected win at home Dorridge was the perfect opening to the Birmingham Premier League campaign.

But indiscipline with the ball almost cost them dear and Wright is expecting better when they travel to Kidderminster on Saturday.

“We bowled very well with the new ball and Daniel Smith did well for his 3-32, and by their own admission Dorridge played some poor shots at the top of the innings.

“But we then conceded far too many extras and that is something the guys are well aware of.

“We let Dorridge get too many on that pitch (141 all out) – it played harder and harder as the game went on but Nathan Round’s 54 was worth double on any other pitch and we just got home.”

Himley will be without their Worcestershire contingent for what Wright admits will be another tough test for his side.

“Kidderminster are always tough to play against, they are a good outfit and we will have to improve our discipline with the ball.”

Having restricted Dorridge to 141, although more than they would have liked, Himley then faced a revised target of 139 off 48 overs which with the ball doing plenty as it dried out was by no means a stroll in the park.

At 88-5 when Mike Jones departed there was still some doubt as to the outcome but Round saw them to within 12 runs of victory and despite his departure and the loss of Jamie Turner after that they reached 139-7 in 44 overs, with Stuart Wedge unbeaten on 13.
