Grosvenor wings in for Brierley

Brierley and Hagley boss Tony Gore has moved quickly to counter last weekend's West Mids Premier defeat to Dudley Town by bringing in a new winger, James Grosvenor, from Bromyard Town.

The right sided midfielder was expected to make his debut in last night's league clash at home to Ellesmere Rangers.

Gore said Grosvenor had many attributes which would benefit his side.

He said: "He will provide pace and quality crosses which is something we have not been getting.

"He will also add competition for places which is a key thing as well.

"James is a good, young player and we are expecting big things from him. We are looking forward to having him on board."

B and H slipped to a 2-0 reverse against Dudley at the War Memorial Ground on Saturday thanks to goals in either half from Ross Brown and Stuart Ward.

It was an under-strength team which took to the field for Brierley but Gore was not offering that as an excuse.

He said: "It was a setback because we went into the game expecting to get something from it.

"We were without six regular players and that always makes it difficult but even allowing for that the side should have been able to get something.

"It was probably our worst performance of the season."

Ross Pearce and Mark McLaren were expected to be back in the reckoning for the midweek fixture as well as this Saturday's game away at Goodrich.

Gore added: "It is important we start to pick up points again as we do not want the gap to get too big.

"If we had won then we would have gone into the top ten for the first time in a long time so I cannot criticise too much.

"We have been on a good run, now we have to start another one and we intend to do that."
