Hospice in office scheme

THE fundraising team at Mary Stevens hospice is hoping to be granted planning permission for new offices.

At the moment staff are dotted all over the place. But, by building an extension on to the back of the existing lottery building, the team will be brought together.

The extension would be ideal because the hospice and medical services are continuing to grow and the chaplin and occupational therapists need the space.

Business manager, Simon Henwood said: "There is a need for just one room and office in the hospice building. For a long time we have wanted to bring together fundraising which would be good for all people and committee groups."

Currently the team is split over three offices.

Simon Henwood said: "We are hoping that approval will be passed and that it will go through shortly.

"If it is passed then we hope the work will be done really quickly."

It is estimated the building will cost £40,000 and, as it will be on the hospice site, the hospice has agreed to fund it.
