Wordsley M Town Guild

BARBARA Gregory, Chair, welcomed members and visitors to the April meeting.

Liz Moseley said that the minutes of the March meeting were on the notice board for all to read. Members agreed that the Chairman sign a copy. Josie Bunn, Treasurer, gave a brief resume of her report and a copy was also on the notice board.

Ann Birchell, Vice Chair, reported on Federation events.

The Annual Lunch is on the 30th July at The Mill, Alveley, the Autumn Fair will take place on the 3rd November and a Shropshire Regional Day is being held at Ludlow on the 4th October.

Guild members were invited to volunteer to host a coffee morning in their garden during the summer months and the Chair announced the Guild's intention to have a stall at the Wordsley Festival on the 16th June.

Mr.Peter Shelley then gave a talk and demonstrated his skills in making Corn Dollies and other straw items. He passed round many examples of his work which included dollies, birthday cards and pictures. A vote of thanks was given by Liz Hubbard who expressed our amazement at how versatile straw is as a medium for craftwork.
