THE monthly meeting held at the Royal British Legion, Kingswinford, on May 3 was opened by Audrey Phipps, chairman.
She welcomed two visitors and our speaker Martin Ryder.
Martin Ryder whose subject was The Development of Ragged Schools for Underprivileged Children in the 1800s gave a very interesting talk on how these schools became established and the wonderful work that they did.
The vote of thanks was given by Mrs Sylvia Fletcher.
The raffle which was the flower bowl which we all helped to make at our previous meeting, was won by Mrs Joan Jones.
Our next meeting will be on Thursday July 5 at 7.30pm when William Farmer will talk on antiques and will value and discuss any items that members may wish to bring along. Visitors will be welcome.
