Mom-entous occasion
AN Old Hill kickboxing mom is ready to take on the world's best after claiming a memorable British double.
Jubilant Julie Charlesworth won a double at the ISKA kickboxing British Championship, held at the Crystal Leisure Centre, Stourbridge, and in the process qualified for the World Championships, which are to be held in the Czech Republic later on this year.
The mum of two won the minus 63kg and also the ladies veteran division.
Julie, who is a former World and European champion had retired from competition two years ago due to setting up the Charlesworth Martial Arts School in Cradley Heath, alongside husband Jason.
However the 39-year-old decided to return to competition in the hope of encouraging more females to take up the sport.
Anyone interested in getting involved can contact Julie on 07888667221 or log on to www.cma-freestyle.co.uk for more details.
