Community awards for kind-hearted Brierley Hill folk

BRIERLEY Hill Community Forum are offering people the chance to nominate kind- hearted unsung heroes in their annual awards ceremony.

The Heart of the Community Awards is aimed at acknowledging people who give their time to help the community, voluntary organisation or simply make the area a better place to live.

Criteria to be nominated are residents have to live in Brierley Hill, Brockmoor and Pensnett or they work for a community or voluntary organisation who serve the people of these awards.

Mike Mason, chair of Brierley Hill Community Forum said: "The awards give local people the chance to recognise their neighbours' contribution to the area.

"If there's a resident in your street who makes the area a better place to live or someone who simply cares about other people, maybe someone special who works for a community or voluntary group in your area- then fill in a nomination form.

"The forum wants to honour people of all ages who make a difference to their community or neighbourhood by the things they do for others- whether they help one person or many.

"There is no judging, all nominees who meet these simple criteria will be invited and presented with an award."

The evening will take place on Friday May 16 and will include entertainment by local groups, a buffet meal and the Forum's 2008 Annual General Meeting.

These awards have been sponsored by Merry Hill owners Westfield and supported by Brierley Hill Regeneration Partnership.

To nominate someone fill in a nomination form which are available from Signpost, 175 High Street, Brierley Hill and describe in no more than 100 words why they deserve recognition.

Brierley Hill Community Forum was established in 2001 and aims to unite the community and voluntary groups together.

The forum seeks to ensure the voice of the community is heard especially concerning regeneration in the area.

For more information on the forum or the awards contact Mike Mason, Diane Mansell or Stuart Chapman 01384 343444.
