Barmaid to bring magic to marathon
STOURBRIDGE barmaid Jenny Benbow will be bringing a touch of stardust to the world's most famous marathon.
The 23-year-old, who works part-time at The Greyhound pub in Norton, will be running the 26-mile London Marathon on Sunday April 13 dressed as a fairy.
Jenny, of Park Road, Hagley, hopes to raise around £3,000 for Cancer Research and her workmates at the pub have already helped her on her way by staging a week of fundraising events.
Charity stunts including a poker game, darts match, karaoke contest, disco and a car wash have brought in £1,300, on top of £800 already raised since she won her marathon place last autumn.
Jenny, who also works as an academic coach at a school in Wednesbury, said she wanted to support Cancer Research in memory of her nan and granddad who both died of the disease.
