John King, a Director of local Estate Agents, Bloore & King, based in Hagley street, Halesowen, was diagnosed with Motor Neurone Disease (MND) last May, and is currently fighting the inevitable deterioration in his body. As so little is known about this disease, Elaine, John’s wife, wants to raise a Million pounds, to help with research and to hopefully to find a cure for MND. Though this will not help John in particular, they both hope that by raising funds, others will benefit long term.

MND is a progressive disease that attacks the motor neurones or nerves, throughout the brain and spinal cord. This means messages gradually stop reaching the muscles, which leads to weakness and wasting. MND can affect how you walk, talk, eat, drink and breathe. MND is Fatal and there is no medicine or cure. This rarely heard of disease, affects about 392 in the whole of the West Midlands, with just over 100 new diagnosis each year. Life expectancy after diagnosis is one to five years.

As this cause is so close to their heart, Bloore & King are donating £1,000 to help swell the ‘Swear Box’ challenge coffers. Louise and Chris Bloore, also ask that others set up their own ‘Swear Boxes’ and help raise the £Million pound target. Currently, collection boxes are sited in Bloore & Kings offices, and at Kyri’s Barbers, also in Hagley Road. Elaine, John, Louise and Chris, all say, “Let’s get swearing and collecting”.
