ESTATE Connells in Stourbridge has seen continued improvements in the housing market as 2012 has progressed and confidence is returning from both buyers and sellers wanting to move home this year.

“Stourbridge is a popular location with commuters, families, downsizers and young professionals. It has excellent road and rails links, good schools and lots of open spaces," says Michelle Purcell, branch partner at Connells.

“We are registering lots of committed buyers wanting to purchase in the area and currently three and four-bedroom family homes are proving particularly popular. However, we are finding there are not enough properties to sell to meet demand and we urgently need more stock.”

Properties that are well presented, correctly priced and pro-actively marketed are selling well, according to Connells.

The days of sellers insisting on asking an over-inflated price and waiting for the market to catch up with it are long gone. So, if people are serious about moving they need to be realistic about price and prepared to accept a reasonable offer. “The nation’s mood has been given a boost following the recent celebrations of the Queen’s Jubilee and the anticipation of other great events to come this year. However, there is a need to maintain long-term confidence in the market going beyond the ‘feel good summer of 2012", says Michelle.
