Bromsgrove’s largest provider of affordable housing, has helped to spread yuletide cheer across Charford this week through its annual Christmas School Project.

The festivities saw bdht team up with children from Charford First School, who decorated cards and gift bags and delivered them to elderly residents in the housing provider’s extra care schemes Gilbert Court and Edwin Court, in Charford.

Residents welcomed Year 4 pupils, aged 8 and 9, from the school on Charford Road, who delighted them by singing Christmas Carols and handed over a number of gifts, including pocket-sized torches and handmade Christmas cards.

Caroline O’Reilly, Communities First Officer and Project Leader at bdht, said: “The children really enjoy getting out into the community and spreading some Christmas cheer each year! Our residents love to hear them sing and it’s lovely to see so many smiles on faces. It’s a great community partnership that’s a huge success every year and we’re really grateful to Charford First School for getting involved again.”

Headteacher at Charford First School, Anita McLaren, said: “We love getting involved in bdht’s Christmas School Project. We pride ourselves on encouraging our pupils to value the community they live in and it’s great to be able to give something back again this year.

“Our children love to sing, so for them to be able to go out and about and show off their skills is a real treat! This is an important community event that we support whole-heartedly.”
