You Tube posting gets Journey's new man the gig

SOFT rockers Journey recruited their new singer after an encounter on You Tube lead to an unbelievable offer.

Guitarist Neal Schon surfed the video sharing web site after becoming frustrated about not being able to find a replacement for Jeff Scott Soto, who parted ways with the band earlier this year.

Neal was so impressed by Arnel Pineda he immediately sent an e-mail to the Philippino frontman offering and audition.

At first Pineda, who had been performing Journey songs with his band The Zoo, did not believe the offer was genuine but after coaxing from a friend decided to reply.

He is now a fully fledged member of the platinum selling group, who are set for a show at Wolverhampton's Civic Hall on Sunday June 22.

Journey keyboardist, Jonathan Cain, said: "Arnel brings a soulful and passionate voice to Journey, his personality is very well-suited to our music."
