STOURBRIDGE favourites Zut Alors will be showcasing a host of new material at an intimate show at Wolverhampton's Little Civic next month.

After three months of penning new numbers back home in Stourbridge, the popular indie rock band will be treating fans to a selection of new tunes plus old favourites at the gig on Wednesday April 16.

Based in London for the last few years, it will be the melodic four-piece's first major gig close to home since last September.

Frontman Tom Eccleshall, aged 25, told the News: "We've been back here for about three months. We've just been working hard, writing songs and practising - it's been pretty good."

The band, also comprising Dave Reay and Aaron and Joe Kelly, have also started staging monthly live music nights at The Swan on Stourbridge's Hagley Road.

Taking place every fourth Wednesday, the next Black Swan event takes place on April 9 - and will feature an acoustic set from Zut Alors and Australian musician and long-time friend of the band, Daniel Peterson.

The ZA guys, formerly known as Stateless, are also looking forward to sharing the stage with rising and recently signed London outfit The Sonic Hearts at a gig at Water Rats, Kings Cross, London, on April 2.

And later on in May/June they are set to tour Academy venues across the country, including stop-offs at Birmingham's Bar Academy on May 2 and June 8.

Having previously supported chart stars Scouting For Girls at Kings College, they have also been enjoying airplay on London's XFM and lead singer/guitarist Tom believes it's only a matter of time before the band's hard work pays off.

He said: "We're just going to see who likes our new stuff and how far it goes, but I'm very hopeful."

Wolverhampton Civic Hall spokesman and Stourbridge's very own former pop star Jonn Penney (Neds Atomic Dustbin) is also confident the band could soon put the town back on the music map.

He said: "Zut Alors could be huge very soon." Tickets for the Little Civic show are priced £4 and are available from Midland Box Office on 0870 320 7000 or online at www.wolvescivic.co.uk
