A FORMER member of ELO and an internationally best-selling author are set to perform at a special musical event at Blackheath Library.

The Whiskey Poets are fronted by award-winning thriller writer RJ (Roger) Ellory and will play their first Midlands gig at the High Street library from 7pm on Saturday, February 10.

The band are a country-blues outfit who also feature Martin Smith – the last touring bassist with Electric Light Orchestra in Europe and the United States.

Speaking of the band’s first ever gig in the Midlands, Roger – who lives in Birmingham – said: “We felt it was very appropriate to play in a library that has supported me as a writer for many years.”

Tickets for the event, which also includes a fish/sausage and chips meal and a licensed bar, cost £8 for adults and £3 for children. Without the meal they cost £5 for adults and children are free.
