Jazz musician set for summer outings

BLACK Country jazz musician and comedian Bev Pegg will be picking up his jazz gear for a series of summer outings over the next few weeks.

Following the recent Jazz Reunion Night at Stourport Boat Club - where lots of ex-Stourbridge teenagers of the 1960s all met up again at their regular Saturday night haunt of 48 years ago, Bev and his Good Time Jazz Gang will be appearing at the Upton International Jazz Festival.

They will be sharing the same bill as Paul Jones, Digby Fairweather and a host of top bands from all over the world.

Bev will also be entertaining the crowds with his star-studded band on Friday June 26, and with his skiffle group on Sunday June 28.

James Evans, who was voted fourth best clarinet player in the UK British Jazz Awards 2008, and Paul Degville, recognised as one of the finest Django Reinhardt style guitar players in the UK, will be among the line-ups in Bev’s bands.

A few days later on Friday July 3, Bev and his Good Time Jazz Gang will be at the famous Little Witley Jazz Club - where they will be joined for one night only by Hungarian clarinet and saxophone player Zoltan Sagi ahead of Zoltan’s gig with the Chris Barber Band in Felixstowe the following evening.
