WORCESTER based singer/songwriter Becky Rose is the latest artist to feature in our online video section - The Base Sessions.

The 18-year-old student dreams of a career in music and if early reviews of her work are any indication she may get her wish.

Becky has been playing music since she was aged just four and writing songs since 2008.

Her moody indie/emo sound has already attracted the attention of BBC Six Music DJ Tom Robinson, who featured her on his show, plus top performers from around the region.

As well as BBC sessions Becky has been teaming up for live and studio work with rockers Mudball and underground songwriter Nick J Townsend from Weak 13.

After hearing Becky’s track Obsession Nick invited her to join him to record a version of the song which won praise from critics including Stourbridge’s Bridge FM, who described the pair as: “possibly one of the best duets in the last ten years”.

Becky draws songwriting inspiration from her experiences as a teenager and from artists including Regina Spektor and KT Tunstall.

She said: “The songs I do are usually inspired by moods. The most extreme of my emotions provoke the best of my music. ‘Silly Little Boy’ was a song written in a moment of sadness and loneliness, whereas, ‘Motorway’ is a song inspired by the thrill of going places I’ve never been to before.”
