RAPPERS Goldie Lookin Chain will be playing a one-off gig in Stourbridge this weekend at recently-rebranded nightspot The Stourbridge Arena.

Renowned for their storming live sets and a string of chart hits, the eight-piece comedy rap outfit rarely perform live but will be turning up in the town this Saturday (May 19) to help launch what is being touted as the first of many new live music nights at the Hagley Road venue (formerly The Picturehouse and Stourbridge Academy).

Dan Hamblett, head of promotions at the Arena, said: “We thought GLC were the perfect choice to launch the live side of the new venue, we have invested in an amazing new set up from top of the range lighting and sound, to a new stage to make the venue a great place for live music of all genres.

“We wanted the first full live event to be a big party atmosphere, so GLC fitted the bill perfectly.”

Stourbridge based Majic Palmer, who is launching his début album on the night, and Case Closed from Worcester will provide support.

Music promotors at the venue hope to host a major act each month, offering support slots to town talent to "give them exposure and hopefully help them with their carers" - Dan said.
