Ridley Scott has revealed that Harrison Ford features in the Blade Runner sequel, which already has a "damn good" script.

Harrison, who starred as retired police officer Rick Deckard in the 1982 sci-fi movie, has yet to commit to the follow-up, which comes over 30 years after the original.

The Oscar-winning filmmaker, who directed the film, told Entertainment Weekly: "It's written and it's damn good. Of course it involves Harrison, who is a survivor after all these years - despite the accident," he added, referring to the actor's Star Wars injury.

"So yes, that will happen," he continued.

Asked when that could start shooting, Ridley said "probably after [The Martian]", a sci-fi adventure starring Matt Damon as an astronaut stranded on Mars. It is due for release in 2015.

Andrew Kosove and Broderick Johnson - co-founders and CEO of Alcon, who will co-produce Blade Runner 2 - said in May: "We believe that Hampton Fancher and Michael Green have crafted with Ridley Scott an extraordinary sequel to one of the greatest films of all time. We would be honoured, and we are hopeful, that Harrison will be part of our project."

Ridley, who is completing work on Exodus: Gods And Monsters, starring Christian Bale and Joel Edgerton, also revealed that the Prometheus sequel has been written, but he needs to schedule some time in for it.

"That's the problem," he said. "I've got a lot of ducks in a row. But they're all written."
