AN AWARD-winning comic is returning to Stourbridge next week for a special preview of his upcoming Edinburgh Fringe Festival show.

Irish-Iranian funny man Patrick Monahan returns to Katie Fitzgerald’s on Thursday, July 2, to put on his one-hour show in the pub’s intimate covered outdoor marquee.

Patrick was the first ever headliner at Fitz of Laughter Comedy Club when it opened at the Enville Street pub in September 2014 and after going down so well, the audience demanded him back.

Speaking ahead of the event, the TV star said: “I can’t wait to come back to Katie’s and perform again in Stourbridge.

“It’s a perfect venue for live comedy and I really enjoyed it there last time, so when Wayne asked me to come back I was delighted to accept.”

Supporting Patrick on the night will be two of the top up-and-coming acts on the Midlands circuit – Josh Pugh, the current Midlands Comedy Awards New Act of the Year, and Wizzy Janew, Nottingham Comedy Festival Comedian of the Year.

Wayne Beese, resident compere, said: “We are absolutely delighted Pat is returning to perform for us at Katie’s.

“He absolutely took the roof off the last time he was here, and, even though it was nearly a year ago and we have had lots of fantastic acts since, people who were there still talk about it. He was that good.

“He is one of the most sought-after comedians in the country and his profile is rising by the day, so it’s great we are able to attract comics of this calibre to our club.

“I expect there will be huge interest in this one so I would urge people to snap up tickets early to guarantee a seat.”

The 38-year-old comedian first shot to fame after winning ITV's Show Me The Funny comedy competition in 2011, which he followed up with appearances on Celebrity Squares and celebrity diving show Splash.

Tickets for the show, which is due to start at 8.30pm with doors opening at 8pm, cost £7 in advance or £10 on the door.

They can be bought online at www.wegottickets.com/event/318339 or by contacting Wayne on 07507 015397.
