Confession time, I have never watched Sister Act.

Yes, I know it is a classic 90s film but somehow it passed me by.

But don't worry, after seeing the stage show at Wolverhampton's Grand Theatre last night, it has been added to my (very long) ‘to watch’ list as I was entertained from start to finish.

Alexandra Burke stepped into Whoopi Goldberg's shoes as Deloris Van Cartier, a disco diva whose life takes a surprising turn when she witnesses a murder.

Under protective custody, she is hidden in the one place she won’t be found – a convent.

Alexandra is no stranger to taking on roles that have been made famous by superstars and making them her own - she was incredible in The Bodyguard and somehow managed to take it up a notch in Sister Act.

Her singing voice is phenomenal but her acting skills are not to be ignored, she was very endearing and funny as Deloris - her exaggerated facial expressions and dance moves were spot on and she even looked amazing in a habit.

But as good as she is, Alexandra did not pull of the show alone and had a strong supporting cast.

Karen Mann was brilliant as Mother Superior, and her sheer horror of having the whirlwind that is Deloris step into the church provided many laughs throughout the performance.

The male members of the cast also deserve a mention, especially Aaron Lee Lambert who played bad boy Curtis so well he even got a couple of boos at the end!

Sister Act is such a feel good show, which put the importance of friendship and loyalty under the spotlight (or should I say disco ball?) - it's simply a must see!
