A BRAND new Horrible Histories is being performed in Birmingham this month.

The popular series which has brought alive dastardly figures from history led to Terry Deary is the world's best selling non-fiction author for children.

Birmingham Stage Company are performing Barmy Britain, with the help of new 3D special effects, at Birmingham Town Hall from Wednesday, June 11 until Sunday, June 15.

A spokesman for BSC said: "We have had huge success over the last eight years with their many different Horrible Histories shows both in London’s West End and on in UK and abroad tour.

"Now comes the world premiere of Horrible Histories - Barmy Britain, complete with all new amazing 3D special effects."

"Barmy Britain is a great treat for all the family. It will entertain all ages with its journey through two thousand years of history from the Romans to World War One.

"The audience will meet fascinating characters, discover funny facts that teachers never tell you about and be blown away by amazing 3D effects.

"It is perfect entertainment for all those from 5 to 105."

BSC manager Neal Foster is directing the show with designs by Jacqueline Trousdale, lighting by Jason Taylor, music by Matthew Scott, sound by Nick Sagar, choreography by Kenn Oldfield and 3D special effects by Amazing Interactives.

The cast includes Laura Dalgleish, Alison Fitzjohn, Benedict Martin and Gary Wilson with Martin Atkinson understudying.
