A CREEPY candlelit storytelling session with one of Stourbridge's finest actors - what could be a better Halloween treat?

Wollaston thespian Alan Birch and Kinver author AG Smith teamed up to bring an Evening of Delectable Terror to audience members at Stourbridge's Bonded Warehouse on Sunday October 30.

The evening saw the brilliant Birch, best-known as Inspector Drake from David Tristram's series of plays and films, bringing to life chilling original tales by AG Smith - popular fantasy fiction author of Harvester of the Now. And it proved the perfect choice for those looking for a novel way to get spooked ahead of All Hallows' Eve.

The historic wooden-beamed Bonded Warehouse proved the ideal intimate setting for the storytelling session in which Birch brought to life with gusto two ghostly tales penned by AG Smith, whose work has won praise from bestselling authors Anthony Horowitz and G.P Taylor.

At times as the tension mounted you could have heard a pin drop in the packed canal-side venue and, as his fans have come to expect, the ever proficient Birch kept the audience gripped throughout the night.

Subtle sound effects also added to the eerie atmosphere.

The evening was the first of its kind to be staged by Birch and AG Smith and judging by the turnout it surely won't be the last.

Even rock god Robert Plant, the legendary Led Zeppelin singer, was enticed to give up his Sunday night to see the show.
