GET your baggy trousers at the ready as a production of Madness musical Our House is performed in the Black Country.

Bilston Operatic Company return to Wolverhampton Grand Theatre this week following the success of last year’s production of Hairspray.

This time out they are combining a witty romantic tale with the energetic and often madcap songs of Madness to entertain audiences from Tuesday (November 15) until Saturday (November 19).

The original production, featuring the songs ‘It Must Be Love’, ‘Baggy Trousers’, ‘Night Boat To Cairo’, ‘House Of Fun’, ‘Driving In My Car’ and of course ‘Our House’, won the Olivier Award For Best New Musical in 2003, running for 10 months at the Cambridge Theatre.

It follows Joe Casey who, on the night of his sixteenth birthday, takes Sarah, the girl of his dreams, out on their first date.

In an effort to impress her with bravado, he breaks into a building site overlooking his home on Casey Street, which is owned by Mister Pressman, a high-end property developer.

The police turn up, at which point Joe’s life splits into two: the Good Joe, who stays to help, and Bad Joe, who flees.

The company is made up of a talented cast of local performers including Ben Evans in the role of Joe Casey, while Abi Strudwicke will play Sarah.

Tickets, priced from £9, are on sale from the box office by calling 01902 429212, or online at www.grandtheatre.co.uk.
