BLACK Country comedy group The Fizzogs are moving into the fast lane of high-powered Formula One racing.

Famous for their Dancing Grannies routine which has been seen around the world, the trio have been booked to perform at the Bahrain Grand Prix next April.

The prestigious gig opportunity came along after the group - comprising Sue Hawkins, Deb Nicholls and Jacky Fellows - were spotted by a talent scout from the Middle East while they were performing at the Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Fizzog Deb Nicholls said: “The Grannies were performing in the street when we were approached by someone who gave us a business card and asked us to get in touch.

“After an exchange of emails we were eventually booked to perform five 20-minute sessions during the Grand Prix. It’s quite amazing what a widespread audience the Grannies have attracted. Appearing in Bahrain will be something new and very special. I just hope they behave themselves.”

The Fizzogs’ Dancing Grannies routine has been viewed more than 300 million times on social media around the world. The gyrating geriatrics have also been booked for events across the UK and the Fizzogs even have their own radio show on Black Country Radio every Friday morning.

The Fizzogs will present their latest show Suck It and See at Netherton Arts Centre from December 15 to 17. It will also be staged at venues in Birmingham, Kidderminster, Bridgnorth, Stafford, Solihull, Telford, Bromsgrove and Worcester in the New Year.

As well as the Grannies, the show will feature comedy characters Mags ‘n Barb, the Kids, tribute band FABA, who are launching a bid to enter the Eurovision Song Contest, gangsta rapper Wayne Kerr and magicians Mr and Mrs Cadabra, plus a new sketch called Cheaters and Eaters.
