A STOURBRIDGE accordionist can be seen making yet another appearance in a production of Fiddler on the Roof which runs next week.

Tinkers Farm Opera is presenting the much-loved musical at Stourbridge Town Hall from Wednesday May 24 to Saturday May 27 - and accordionist Alan Roden provides musical accompaniment in the show.

The show is one of the few musicals that features a piano accordion as one of the key instruments and Mr Roden has been playing his part in productions that have required his services for the last 45 years.

He made his debut in 'the pit' in the very first Fiddler on the Roof outing at Stourbridge Town Hall - performed by Stourbridge Operatic Society in 1972 - and he has gone on to appear in more than 20 Fiddler shows since.

This week he is at it again - back where it all started at the town hall in a production featuring his relative Joanne Chambers on lead violin.

He said: "It may be my last but who knows?"
