BUDDING young playwrights are being invited to submit their scripts for the chance to have their work performed by Stourbridge Theatre Company.

As part of the popular amateur dramatic group’s recently launched competition, the selected winner will also receive a cash prize of £250.

To take part in the competition, entrants must be under 25-years-old and live within 15 miles of Stourbridge Town Hall, while scripts must be original work and written in traditional dialogue form – improvisations are not acceptable.

The plays must last at least 20 minutes and no more than 35 minutes, include a cast of between three and eight characters, and the scripts must include a brief resume of each character.

Tim French, chairman of Stourbridge Theatre Company, said: “We are calling all young budding playwrights in the area.

“If you are just finishing exams and in need of extra cash or have an interest in drama, why not write a play that STC will bring to life at Stourbridge Town Hall?

“it is an opportunity not to be missed.”

Once a winner is chosen by the STC’s representatives, the script will be turned into a fully supported production, with the group providing a director, a venue, technical facilities, publicity and cast, which could be drawn from people suggested by the author, or members of the theatre company.

The closing date for entries is Monday July 31, and for more information about how to enter, including full terms and conditions, visit www.stourbridgetheatre.co.uk
