THESPIANS in Kinver will be following in the hallowed steps of the great Ingrid Bergman when they tread the boards in their forthcoming production - Gaslight.

The film version of the classic Patrick Hamilton play earned Miss Bergman an Oscar in 1944 and the New Kinver Players are hoping their rendition will go down a storm with village audiences.

The play is set in a London house in the latter part of the 19th century where Bella Manningham fears she is losing her mind. Things in the house are going missing, she seems to have unaccountable lapses in memory and the gas lamps dim mysteriously when she is alone in the evening.

Her husband Jack is far from sympathetic and then retired detective Rough turns up at the house one particular evening.

The intrigue will be played out at the Edward March Centre from Wednesday February 6 to Saturday February 9 at 7.30pm. Tickets, priced £7 and £5 for concessions are available from the ticket secretary on 01384 872197 or from members of the group.
