ROALD Dahl’s ever-popular children’s tale The BFG will be brought to life at Birmingham Repertory Theatre next week.
The enchanting story of little Sophie, who - after being snatched from her bed in the dead of night - is taken on a magical adventure by the Big Friendly Giant, is set to run at the theatre in Centenary Square, Broad Street, from Tuesday June 23 to Saturday June 27.
Adapted for the stage by David Wood and directed by Phil Clark - the brand new show promises to delight young and old alike.
Director Phil Clark said: “The chance to create a new production of The BFG in 2009 is extremely exciting and challenging. In a world of video games, television and Nintendos, it’s important that young people experience the magic of live theatre.
“Our goal is to engage them in a fantastical world that has a real relevance to their lives.”
The cast includes Adam Baxter as Sam Simkins, Darrell Brockis as Ronald Simkins, Becky John as Sophie, Anthony Pedley as The BFG, Heather Phoenix as the Queen of England and Louise Shuttleworth as Mary, maid to the Queen.
Evening performances start at 7pm - and there are also a host of morning and matinee shows running throughout the week, plus a family day on Saturday June 27.
Tickets range from £10 to £22 (£6 per child for the family day).
