As soon as I heard comedy genius Stephen Fry was involved in this new production of Me and My Girl I knew it would be a treat - and it didn't disappoint.
This revised version of the enduring musical, given the midas touch by the aforementioned Mr Fry, is a real gem.
From the star-studded cast to the perfectly executed song and dance routines, this feel-good show is one for all the family.
Richard Frame takes on the lead role of costermonger Bill Snibson whose life is turned upside down when he learns he is the heir to the title and fortune of the Earl of Hareford.
Lambeth lad Bill struggles to accept his new status but his aunt Maria, the Duchess of Dene, is determined to transform him into a quintessential English gentleman - even if that means breaking up his relationship with sweetheart Sally Smith (Faye Tozer).
This rags to riches tale has a charming mix of timeless humour, eccentric English characters and fantastic musical numbers.
The classic songs - including Leaning on a Lamppost, Lambeth Walk and The Sun Has Got His Hat On - are what make this show so enjoyable.
Richard Frame as Bill is a true talent with a superb singing voice. And his natural comic ability shines through in his duet with Sir John Tremayne (Trevor Bannister) in Love Makes the World Go Round.
Former STEPS starlet Faye has a lovely voice and her acting is spot-on - in fact, it's hard to believe she ain't a real life Cockney!
Russell Walker puts in an hilarious Jeeves and Wooster-style performance as the nice-but-dim Hon. Gerald Boling-broke.
Dillie Keane as matriarch Maria and Trevor Bannister as Sir John are a great comic double act and Sylvester McCoy is charmingly daft as the solicitor Cedric Parchester.
This heart-warming Cock-ney knees-up is a must-see.
Performances take place daily at 7.30pm until Saturday October 21. Matinee performances will take place at 2.30pm today, Thursday and on Saturday.
Tickets priced £7.50-£28.50 can be bought by calling the Lichfield Street Box Office on 01902 429212.
