A JEWELLERY designer is bringing her skills to a Wordsley landmark to continue her family's connection with its creative heritage.

Sarah Chen, from Green Eyed Jewellery, is getting set to host a stall at the annual Christmas craft fayre at Red House Glass Cone.

Sarah's late grandfather Ralph Bowater was thought to be the last surviving person to have worked at the cone before it was closed 1936.

He died last year aged 93 but his memory lives on at the popular tourist attraction in the form of a commemorative bench on the site.

Sarah Chen said: “The cone has a special connection for me as it was a big part of my granddad’s life. I spent a lot of my childhood with my granddad who often took me round the cone and the glassworks factory.

“I loved it up there and loved to hear the stories granddad told about what it was like to work in the cone when he was young.

”All my family worked in the glass industry and being part of the craft fayre at the cone makes me feel that in a small way I am still part of that tradition.”

The fayre will feature attractions including semi-precious stone jewellery from Sarah plus stalls featuring a wide range of gift ideas.

The event will be on at the High Street Cone from 10am to 4pm on Saturday November 24 and Sunday November 25, entrance is free.
