PEOPLE can drop into libraries across the borough for a free NHS health check.

The confidential checks include tests for heart disease, stroke diabetes and kidney disease.

Appointments are available to people aged 40 to 74 who haven’t had a recent health check and are registered with a Dudley borough GP and who have not been diagnosed with diabetes, hypertension, high blood pressure, heart disease, stroke or kidney disorder.

As part of the drop-in events health staff will be making free referrals for people to slimming, exercise, healthy eating and weight management services which are available.

They will also be giving out discounted vouchers to borough centres.

Checks will be held at Kingswinford Library on Saturday November 24; Stourbridge Library on Tuesday November 27; Brierley Hill Library on Tuesday November 29; Halesowen Library on Thursday December 6; Sedgley Library on Tuesday December 4 and at Dudley Library on Thursday December 13.

All drop-in events will run from 10.30am to 2.30pm.

Councillor Khurshid Ahmed, Dudley’s cabinet member for housing, libraries and adult learning, said: “The health check events are a great example of partnership working and I hope people will take advantage of this great opportunity to get themselves checked out.”
