KINVER villagers are going large for their Christmas celebrations with big events to launch their festive shopping season.

High Street shops are getting set to host two late-night events where visitors will be able to enjoy a wide range of traditional seasonal treats.

The first event, which starts at 6pm on Friday November 30, will include a visit by South Staffordshire MP Gavin Williamson to switch on the village Christmas lights including illumination of Kinver's Big Tree.

Charlie Sadler, from Kinver's Big Tree Campaign said: “Over recent years Kinver has set the pace in kicking off festive celebrations with the Big Tree switch-on and all the attractions in the High Street.

"This year will be no exception and we are hoping even more visitors will come along to celebrate the Christmas spirit with the Kinver community.”

Visitors will be able to enjoy a range of attractions during the event, which will run until 9pm, including a variety of festive food and drink.

Competitions will include guess how many lights are on the Big Tree, a no lose tombola and Spot the Odd One Out in shop windows.

The second evening of village festivities will take place on Friday December 14.
