STOURBRIDGE cyclists are gearing up for some freewheeling festive fun with a mass event to raise cash for a good cause.
Stourbug members will be setting out from Mary Stevens Park in Norton on Saturday December 8, for a 40 mile ride which will see groups of bikers passing through Hagley, Holy Cross, Belbroughton, Broome, Churchill and Cookley.
Many of the riders will be in fancy dress as elves and Santas and collecting cash on the way to support Mary Stevens Hospice.
John Plant, Stourbug chairman, said: “Each year Stourbug and its members support a range of charities through sponsored rides, and other events.
"In 2012 the club has raised thousands of pounds. Our support for Mary Stevens Hospice is another example of how our club contributes to the local community and charities”
“In the New Year Stourbug will be organising a series of events for novice cyclists and people who want a fun way to get fit and perhaps loose a little of the weight that comes with Christmas. We always welcome new members and offer rides to suit people of all abilities”
The Elves and Santas ride will start at 10am and finish at the Island Pool near Cookley.
