COPS hunting a Brierley Hill armed robber have released an image of a raider who left a shop worker terrified.

Although the CCTV shot does not show the offender's face, officers hope the man's distinctive tracksuit top will jog the memories of witnesses.

The incident happened at around 9pm at the One-Stop shop on Turners Lane, Withymoor, on Saturday November 17 when the offender walked into the shop armed with a knife.

He threatened the 27-year-old shop assistant who handed over takings and was left unharmed but badly shaken.

Detective Constable Ryan Matthews, from West Midlands Police CID, said: “We’re keen to identify the lad in the CCTV so that we can prevent him from committing further crimes.

“I am keen to hear from anyone who recalls seeing the lad hanging around the area before the robbery or running off after."

New figures show robbery in Dudley is down, between April and November this year there were 203 incidents across the borough compared to 292 offences in the same period in 2011.

Anyone who can identify the man caught on camera should call DC Matthews on 101. Alternatively people who do not want to speak with police officers directly can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
