AMBLECOTE shoppers are being asked to dig deep and swell the Christmas kitty of animal charity Wellcat.
The Black Country-based organisation is holding a collection at Sainsbury's on Sandringham Way on Sunday December 9 and Sunday December 16.
Pauline Beasley, from Wellcat, said: “The number of cats and kittens coming into the centre is at a record high and as very few are finding new homes, we are overrun with abandoned pets.
“This has put a huge strain on finances and we could face closure by the end of next year unless extra funds are raised to meet running costs. Vet’s bills alone are £2,000 a month.
