A DUDLEY nurse is celebrating after being shortlisted for a prestigious national nursing award.

Sara Davis, who runs the Acute Medical Unit at Russells Hall Hospital, has been nominated for ‘Ward Sister of the Year’ in the Nursing Standard Awards.

Sara, who been working for the Dudley Group since 2002, is one of just two nurses shortlisted for the accolade from around the country.

Sara, who lives in Kidderminster, said: “It is a real honour to have been shortlisted for the title of ward sister of the year and is testament to the hard work of all my team that go the extra mile to ensure patients have the best experience possible while in our care.”

“Being shortlisted is an amazing privilege and my opportunity to highlight the work of our whole profession.”

All 35 finalists in the 15 categories will now have to be interviewed by judges next month, before the awards are held on Tuesday March 12 at London’s Victoria and Albert Museum, when the winners will be announced.
