Illegal immigrant jailed for passport fraud

A 41-YEAR-OLD illegal immigrant who used a forged passport to gain work with a Kingswinford firm has been jailed for seven months.

Algerian born Faycal Bouras pocketed £38,000 in three separate spells with the firm on the Pensnett Trading Estate, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.

Bouras, who slipped into the UK from France in 1997, was known to have been in possession of three separate false French passports - Howard Searle, prosecuting, said.

He told the court Bouras started work with the plumbing fittings firm after producing a fake passport and the original document had never been recovered by police.

Mr Searle added: “When he was interviewed he told police he saw an immigration official to try and sort out the situation because he believed he could be eligible for amnesty.”

He said Bouras, who had been living in Lord Street, Walsall, had paid tax and insurance contributions on all the money he earned with the firm.

Bouras admitted fraud and was told by Recorder Paul Stephens the offence was so serious only an immediate spell in custody was approrpriate.
