Stourbridge shopping centre extends charity scheme deadline

THE Ryemarket has extended the deadline for applications from Stourbridge groups seeking a profile and cash boost through a new charity scheme.

Kelley Dyas, the new manager of the Stourbridge shopping centre, has invited charitable organisations across the town to make their case for a boost which will include free space in the centre once a month for fundraising activities.

Mrs Dyas hopes to help top up the coffers of the chosen group, help raise its profile and assist with fundraising throughout 2013.

A number of groups have already sent in applications but because of the Christmas and New Year break the deadline has now been extended to Thursday January 31.

Mrs Dyas said: “We realise that some organisations may not have had time to collate all the information so we’ve decided to extend the deadline to January 31.”

Groups wishing to be considered for Ryemarket backing are asked to contact Kelley by letter giving full contact details and a brief summary of the group, their aims and aspirations, their fundraising efforts to date, how they would spend any further cash aid and how members and the town might benefit.

They must also explain what fundraising efforts they are making on their own behalf.

Mrs Dyas said she has launched the scheme to put the Ryemarket “even more at the heart of the community than it already is”.

She said one group will be chosen for 2013 and others will be supported in future years if the scheme proves a success.

Applications should be sent to the centre manager’s office, Ryemarket Shopping Centre, Stourbridge DY8 1HJ.
