AN extraordinary Stourbridge singleton has found romance for the first time after appearing on C4’s The Undateables.

Simon Macgregor, who has learning disabilities, was seen on last night’s show as he went on a first date with Down’s Syndrome sufferer Kate Brackley, an office worker from Droitwich - who is determined to find herself a husband.

The pair met through Kidderminster’s Our Way Self Advocacy which runs dating agency Stars in the Sky for singles with disabilities - and they were filmed by the hit Channel 4 show which follows the journeys of disabled men and women in pursuit of love.

Simon, aged 32, and Kate, aged 30, went on two dates on the show and have continued to see each other off camera since the programme was filmed last summer.

Kate, who works in Kidderminster, was quick to confess her feelings for Simon and after the couple’s second date she read out a heartfelt self-penned poem which appeared to win him over.

Simon, however, hasn’t given too much away but he told the News afterwards he has grown fond of Kate and her friendly personality.

He added: “I like her, she’s great.”

Amateur poet and romantic comedy fan Kate, who has been single for nine years, made it clear on the nationally-televised show that she was looking for a husband - but Simon is playing things cool and said of their relationship: “It’s always a possible down the line. I like to take it slow - I don’t like to rush into things.”

The pair, however, watched the programme together with friends in Droitwich on Tuesday night and have been trying to meet up whenever possible.

The second series of the Undateables continues on Tuesday January 29 at 9pm on Channel 4. Those who missed this week’s episode featuring Kate and Simon can watch it on 4oD.
