A TALENTED borough dancer is hoping for a second shot of stardom after re-entering a TV dance competition and once again wowing the star judges.

Joe Priest, aged 19, hit the headlines last year as one fifth of Antics Dance Crew, who took Sky1 show ‘Got to Dance’ by storm with their jaw-dropping street dance routines.

After narrowly missing out on the top spot despite making the finals, the crew, comprising of Joe from Kingswinford, 19- year-old Oscar McDevitt from Tividale, 22-year-old Matthew Grieh, Nathan Marsh aged 22 and 21-year-old Jordan Breakspear, from Birmingham, have been performing around the country over the last 12 months, and even performed at the Olympic torch relay concert at Birmingham’s Canon Hill Park.

But the self-taught dancers decided to take another shot of winning £250,000 and reentered this year’s show and were seen gaining gold stars from all three of the judges – Diversity’s Ashley Banjo, former Pussycat Doll Kimberly Wyatt and JLS singer Anton Merrygold – sending them straight through to the next round.

And commending the group after their performance, Ashley told them: “You are a new generation of street dance crews.

“You’re really creative.

You’re my favourite crew ever from this country and you’ve set the bar for series four.”

And former Bromley Hills Primary and Crestwood School pupil, Joe, who is currently studying urban dance at the University of East London, said: “It’s been a mad year, but we wanted to retry again to see if we could have a clean run this year, unlike last when Matt broke his jaw while we performed at Thorns before the semi-finals. We wanted to show how we’ve improved and we are hoping we can have a shot of winning.”

The crew filmed the audition back in September, but had to keep the news secret until the new year.

And despite being miles apart for the majority of the time, the dancers regularly practise their routines by sharing new choreography with each other over the internet.
