Stourbridge group to host history talk on Chatsworth

HISTORIAN Dr Gillian White will be presenting a talk on Chatsworth and the Cavendish family from 1550 to 1850 at the next meeting of Stourbridge Historical Society.

The illustrated talk, about Chatsworth House - the ancestral seat of the Dukes of Devonshire - and the influential aristocratic Cavendish family, will be held in the Amblecote Room at Stourbridge Town Hall on Thursday February 21 from 7.30pm.

Dr White, a 16th century history specialist - who will be making her third presentation to the society, has worked at Hardwick Hall and now lectures at Leicester and Oxford Universities. She also freelances for a variety of societies nationwide.

Visitors are welcome to attend the event.
