Council worker aims high for charity fundraiser
12:00pm Friday 15th February 2013 in News
A DUDLEY Council employee is preparing to go above and beyond to raise money to fund ongoing research into the condition which affects her young son.
Nicola Monckton, a Human Resources officer, will be running up 658 steps and 39 levels in the Beetham Tower in Birmingham city centre on Sunday, February 24, to raise money for the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.
Her son, George, aged two, was born with cystic fibrosis and had to undergo lifesaving surgery at four months-old.
Despite having to take medication and undergo physiotherapy every day, he is now a thriving little boy.
Nicola, from Oldbury said: “George is a gorgeous, cheeky, outgoing, mischievous little chap and we want to do everything we can to fund research which will prolong his life.”
Nicola has also convinced five of her colleagues to take part in the run with her in a bid to raise as much money as possible for the cause.
