DUDLEY Museum and Art Gallery will be hosting a public event to remember Duncan Edwards tonight – 55 years to the day since he died.
Historian Rose Cook, from Woodside, who has produced a film about the famous footballers life, will be leading a talk and film showing at the St James’s Road venue from 7pm tonight – which everyone is invited to attend.
Also in attendance will be Duncan’s cousins, as well as the Mayor of Dudley and Dudley North MP Ian Austin.
Tonight’s event follows a memorial at St Francis Church in Dudley, which is taking place at 11am.
The church, in Laurel Road, hosted Duncan’s funeral and has two stained glass windows dedicated to his memory.
Duncan, who was aged just 21, died 15 days after that fateful day in 1958 when bad weather caused the Manchester United team’s flight home from Munich to crash.
A total of 21 people lost their lives in the tragedy, including sports journalists and several of Duncan’s team mates.
