Lye man could face jail after dangerous driving conviction
3:47pm Thursday 21st February 2013 in News
A 25-YEAR-OLD Lye motorist who went through traffic lights on red and almost collided with a police officer has been warned he could be facing time behind bars.
Before the close call, Yaser Ali had also been involved in a road rage incident with a woman motorist in which he armed himself with a wheel brace, Wolverhampton Crown Court was told.
Ali, of Valley Road, denied dangerous driving but he was found guilty by a jury at the end of his trial.
The seven-man five-woman panel retired for just over 90 minutes to consider the evidence before returning their unanimous verdict.
Ali, who before the trial got underway admitted a charge of using threatening words and behaviour, was remanded on bail until the week beginning March 18 for a pre-sentence report.
But Recorder Richard Bond the extremely serious offences clearly crossed the custody threshhold and all sentencing options were open.
The jury was told Ali got into an argument with the woman because they both felt they were right when using a junction before he drove away at speed.
