Fire crews tackle tower block rubbish blaze in Oldbury

First published in News

SIX fire crews were called out to tackle a blaze in a tower block in Oldbury last night (Friday).

Firefighters with breathing apparatus and a thermal imaging camera were at the scene at Alfred Gunn House in Thompson Road, Langley Green, at around 6pm after receiving reports of a fire in a rubbish shoot.

The blaze left the upper two to three floors of the ten-storey block smoke logged but there were no injuries.

Residents were advised to stay in their flats and access to the upper floors was restricted while the incident was ongoing but no-one was evacuated.
