A MURDER investigation is under way after a stabbing on a number nine bus bound for Stourbridge.

The incident took place at 7.37am this morning (Thursday) when a passenger, believed to be a young female, was attacked.

West Midlands Ambulance Service was called to the scene, on Hagley Road in Edgbaston.

A senior paramedic officer in a rapid response vehicle, two BASICS Emergency medics and two ambulance crews attended, tragically the victim was confirmed dead at the scene.

Police have established the identity of the victim and are informing the family.

The scene has been sealed off as an investigation gets under way and Hagley road is expected to remain closed for the rest of the day.
