MORE details have emerged about the tragic killing of a Halesowen school pupil on a number nine bus this morning.

Speaking at a press conference outside Leasowes High School, Kent Road, det supt Rich Baker from West Midlands Police confirmed a 22-year-old man had been arrested in connection with the stabbing of 16-year-old Christina Edkins.

The teenager, who was a pupil at Leasowes, died after she was stabbed at around 7.30am today (Thursday) on a bus in Edgbaston.

A man was arrested a short time later after being seen behaving suspiciously close to a Morrison’s supermarket near the scene on Hagley Road.

As distraught pupils prepared to make their way home, Leasowes’ headteacher Neil Shaw paid tribute to Christina, describing her as “bright and popular student”.
