Cops launch new Church Watch scheme

BRIERLEY Hill church members are being invited to join a new scheme to help tackle crime.

Neighbourhood officers in Brierley Hill have launched a new Church Watch scheme which they are keen to push out borough-wide after running successful pilots at religious establishments in the town.

Police hope the scheme will help to cut metal thefts, vandalism and general criminal damage in and around the church grounds in the area.

PCSO Neil Bunting, who devised the idea for the scheme, said: "We aim to send you regular updates on latest initiatives and crime prevention advice on personal safety, business security and home and vehicle security.

"I will also be producing a quarterly Church Watch newsletter, which will highlight key areas of business and let you know when our next community meetings are."

Officers want to hear from any religious groups across Brierley Hill and beyond interested in joining the scheme.
