STUDENTS at Crestwood School in Kingswinford were treated to a visit by prolific children’s author Cathy Cassidy.

The Coventry-born author of the Daizy Star series and the Chocolate Box Girls books stopped off at the Bromley Lane secondary school on Tuesday March 12 to meet pupils and sign copies of her books.

The 50-year-old art teacher turned author, who now lives in the north west of England, has written around 20 books for young readers and used to be an agony aunt for Shout magazine for teenaged girls.

To mark this year’s World Book Day - she has just published mini read Bittersweet, another book to add to the Chocolate Box Girls series which tells the story of five girls whose parents start a truffle-making business.

A school spokesman said: “Students from Bromley Hills, Bromley Pensnett and Dingle Primary Schools, and Dormston Secondary School, also joined us for the afternoon.

“Cathy gave a wonderful presentation about herself and her writing.

“All the students really enjoyed the event. Most bought books and Cathy personally signed them.”
