Hagley pupils in court for a realistic lesson in the law

HAGLEY school pupils will be in court this weekend to go before the bench for a lesson in the law.

Students from Hagley Catholic High school will be among youngsters appearing at Worcester Magistrates Court on Saturday March 16, to take part in the Worcestershire heat of the 2013 Schools’ Mock Trial competition.

Teams of 12 to 14-year-olds from 15 schools will take on the roles of lawyers, witnesses, magistrates, court staff and defendant for the competition, run by the Citizenship Foundation in partnership with the Magistrates Association.

Pupils will play out their roles in the mock trial of a soldier accused of assault, the winning team from will take part in regional finals in May.
